Another Day…

And this horseshit rears its head.

An MP has claimed that Britons “will be conscripted” if the UK goes to war with Russia.

Afghanistan war veteran and Liberal Democrat MP for Tunbridge Wells Mike Martin issued the stark warning amidst growing concerns of escalating tensions with Russia.

Speaking to the Express, Martin said: “There’s a significant chance that it [war with Russia] might happen so we must be prepared.”

This one worked in the 20th Century. People felt differently about the state and its authority. Not now. There were few enough conscientious objectors in the two world wars for the state to deal with. Nowadays, I suspect they will have a bigger fight on their hands domestically than they will on the front lines with Russia.

If Kier Starmer wants to start a war with Russia, he is welcome to do what the kings of yore used to do and lead from the front. Along with every politician and their families who think it is okay to drag other people to be killed on their behalf.

As it is, I am too old, so it won’t have any great effect unless they try some civil defence bollocks. My reaction will be as it always is when the state or any of its organs tries to involve me in their web. Fuck off and keep fucking off, because I will not enable the state. The state is not your friend, and it certainly isn’t mine.

  1. …unless they try some civil defence bollocks… Try it, go on try it. Give me and other old gits like me a gun. You might find us marching up to your door.

    • well said they couldn`t wait to take my pistols away in 98 what makes them think they could give me a rifle to do their bidding now

  2. Totally agree.
And could you imagine any of our cultural enrichers ever fighting for Britain?
No, me neither – not one.

  3. America discovered with Vietnam that the days of conscripting educated folk in Western nations for remote wars were coming to an end. That it almost caused civil war inside the USA let the rest know that it would be a step too far thereafter.

That said, ‘modern’ warfare has less apparent need for cannon-fodder troops in trenches, although Ukraine looks very much like that right now. Piloting a drone from the perceived safety of your WFH bedroom in Slough may be the way ahead for the future military – more Lads’ Army than Dads’ Army.

  4. From the article:

“We can’t allow President Putin to play games with President Trump’s deal. The Kremlin’s complete disregard for President Trump’s ceasefire proposal only serves to demonstrate that Putin is not serious about peace.”

    Fuck off Two Tier
Putin didn’t disregard the peace proposal. He showed it to be the rushed, undetailed, half-baked plan for what it is.
He asked questions like, what happens if Ukraine breaks it? Who will be monitoring it, cos Russia isn’t going to accept NATO? How will the front be monitored? And Can we have guarantee that Ukraine won’t just rearm in a short ceasefire?

There’s no reason for Russia to rush into a ceasefire, they’re winning. This proposal would just give the advantage to Ukraine, and there was no detail in it. It was pathetic posturing that just allows them to say “oh look he refused a ceasefire, he must be evil”

  5. I did not think it was possible to hate der sturmer more but why the fuck, fuck, fuckity fucking fuck does this blow up doll want a war with Russia?

Just wonder if the globo-filth are just doing a bit of sounding for some form of watered down conscription. Deutsche Arbeitsfront, Council of Labor and Defense?

After all, only service bestows citizenship.

    • I couldn’t agree more. Every word true.
How did we give away the best country in the world in which to live?

  6. The fuckwittery of Net Zero and wokism is coming home to roost, so new bread & circus required to placate the plebs (Russian bogeyman).

  7. I did not think it was possible to hate der sturmer more but why the fuck, fuck, fuckity fucking fuck does this blow up doll want a war with Russia?

Because doing things like keeping the lights on, bins emptied and roads in a half decent state of repair is beneath them. It’s pure ego.
All our modern politicos seem to think they’re going to be the next wartime leader and go down in history. BoJo the fucking clown thought he was the reincarnation of Churchill.
Sadly they’re all lacking in the ability, intelligence and backing of the population to be any good at anything, nevermind leading the country through a war…

  8. Fight for those bastards who detest the very sight of the working classes, who 5 minutes ago called them far right for not swooning over them and their latest wheeze like teenage girls over some pop star? just sod off and keep sodding off till you go over the cliff.

Those interchangeable war mongers have killed millions thanks to their false phoney wars based on a pack of lies each one, the humanitarian costs of which are incalcuble yet those responsible swan off into warm sunshine with gold plated pensions and/or globohomo funded sinecures.

Yet another nine bob note regime just like all the others before in number 10 assumes a new breed of Tommies is going to fight their next wet dream dirty war for them, its not a bunch of underequipped peasants using 30 year old guns on a few battered Hiluxs and not a airplane to their name its the tough as they come well equipped Russians and most of those sent will come back in pieces in body bags or if they’re unlucky maimed beyond recognition.
Those who come back in one piece likely to find themselves prosecuted by some future ghastly set of wankers who manage to worm their way into number 10.

I don’t drink but can see what drives good men to the bottle.

  9. I foresee gangs of new conscripts marching into battle armed with air rifles – because burning gunpowder generates too much carbon dioxide. Hastily scouring the battlefield to find pellets for re-cycling. Living off vegan ration packs.

  10. Martin is talking nonsense. To rapidly call up large numbers of conscripts in wartime requires a large amount of infrastructure, personnel and supplies. You need bases to do the training, a large number of instructors, a large stockpile of weapons and other equipment, and sufficient capacity in transport, maintenance, fuel, etc. to deploy all these new troops to the field while still supporting the regular army.

All this has to be maintained in peacetime at enormous expense, and there is no way that any British government is going to find room for that in the budget.

Sure, the Ukrainians and Russians did it. But the Ukrainians are fighting for national survival so they don’t care how much it costs, and the Russians found out just how hard it is to start “mobilisation” without all the infrastructure that the Soviet Union used to maintain in peacetime at enormous expense, just in case it was ever needed.

As for war with Russia, Britain would only face that possibility as part of a much larger coalition. For one thing, just look at how many nations’ territories British land forces would have to pass through to get anywhere near Russia. Our armed forces also use a lot of American equipment, and even without a mythical “kill switch” the United States could still stop any operation that it didn’t control by withholding spare parts, technical support, intelligence data, etc.

Realistically, a war with Russia would either be NATO vs Russia or America + multiple allies (outside of NATO structures) vs Russia. Either scenario would quickly result in the comprehensive defeat of Russia or nuclear war, with no time to train and deploy conscripts and no use for them anyway.

The possible outcomes also give both sides strong reasons to avoid it, so it’s really not likely at all.

  11. I don’t think it’s just western nations that would have trouble. Something like two million or so – of the better educated and informed (although not sure what proportion are conscript age men) – have fled Russia in the last three years and I suspect they will not be going back in a hurry.

Those who have been conscripted – or bribed or otherwise cajoled – have been predominantly non-Russian ethnicities from the deep interior and far eastern satrapies with all that implies (I believe Russia is only around 40% ethnic Russians these).

    Can Russia rebuild its military?

I think Ukraine is struggling as well – and not just because it has the smaller population – they seem to be getting a bit press gangey these days.

What about China? I don’t think their military is really up to much (not sure what sort of soldiers the little emperors and the “lie flat” generation would actual make), and the actual population is probably hundreds of millions less than the official 1.4 billion. I’ve seen claims that, including the ravages of their home grown chink flu virus, it could be as little as half that (and it has the most steeply aging population in the world).

So it’s just going to be snide cyber attacks, tariffs, sanctions and everything else that harms the populace at large while passing the globo-filth by?

  12. Conscript immigrants first, both legal and illegal. Then sit back and watch the stampede for the exit. I don’t know why Starmer has such a hard on for war in eastern Europe, maybe he thinks he’ll be seen as some kind of Trumpian figure (I know, there’s no chance of that), but he really needs to get over it.

As far as I can see, while people are still willing to support the Ukrainian people, they are distinctly cold when it comes to Zelensky. Personally, I don’t trust him and I think that before we send another penny in financial aid over there, there should be an audit. I want to know where the billions we’ve already given have gone to. Because I really doubt that it went solely on fighting the war. I think a fair bit ended up in an offshore account.

Also, before one British boot is put on the ground, that boot should be filled by the foot of Starmer’s oldest son. And all the other boots should be filled by the feet of the fighting age sons and daughters of everyone who supports Starmer in his warmongery. The working class have sent enough sons and daughters into the meat grinder, it’s time for our so called elite to take a turn.

  13. Whats never mentioned by the likes of the author of this piece is exactly how one can have conscription in a country where 16% of the population are foreign nationals (and thats across the entire population, that percentage would undoubtedly be far higher in the conscription age ranges, say 18-40). And on top of that many more either have dual nationality, or qualify for it due to being the children of immigrants. You would face a situation whereby the only people being conscripted would be white men whose parents were both born here. Everyone else would have an out – either they are foreign nationals, and thus are not subject to the control of the UK government, or can get a non-UK passport to leave the country. This isn’t 1939 any more, where 99.9% of those conscripted were full British citizens, and who were the children of parents who were full British citizens. That uniformity just doesn’t exist any more.

Do the PTB really think that British parents are going to stand around and let their sons be hauled off to fight in some Eastern European meat grinder war while millions of foreigners get to stay safe and sound back here in the UK, maybe on benefits, or doing very nicely out of a war economy? I genuinely think if they tried to implement it there would be a violent revolt.

    • “Do the PTB really think that British parents are going to stand around and let their underage daughters be raped by pakistani muslim itinerant goat herders?”.

Wasn’t a violent revolt about that, and there won’t be about conscription.

      • That didn’t affect everyone. The rape gangs were terrible for those involved, but human nature being what it is, if they aren’t directly affected people will ignore it, not my problem. Conscription would be everyone’s problem.

        • There is some truth in that. If the Beeb cancelled Strictly, the peons would be up in arms.

      • Not just those two. I’ve watched what is going on for decades and still can’t believe that nobody has done anything about it. I read stories of kids dying because NHS bureaucrats have made a decision. They complain to the papers about their kids death and when nothing happens just sulk about it for the rest of their lives.

Yesterday, someone tried to blow up the council offices with a car full of petrol. Probably he could only afford half a tank. I was standing with some kids watching and commented that he didn’t seem very committed to it. He parked blocking the entrance covered himself with petrol and was talked down. Nobody is committed to seeing anything through nowadays. That is what we are like. Even worse from a murderous viewpoint he was miles away from any council staff or even the building. He would have killed himself only and I’m not convinced that would have had much of an impact on his cause. Dickheads.

  14. Der Sturmer needs to look up the verb “To Frag” and “Fragging” (a Vietnam war reference) before he press gangs the unwilling into the armed forces, giving them rifles and grenades and leaving them in the vicinity of officers.

As the death penalty for both murder and treason (thanks, Tony Blair) has been eliminated, then what have they got to lose? Spend time in a military prison here in the UK or be killed on the battlefield? It isn’t a hard choice to make.
