Apparently we whiteys are afraid to talk about race. Yes, you guessed it, the Groan – racism central. Anyway, the meme here is the usual “racism is everywhere”, and over at the groan racism is such a well-worn meme you could run a train along the grooves. So, what happened in Ferguson that got the race-mongers all so upset? A teenager robbed a convenience store and was apprehended by the police and shot dead in the process. Eye witness accounts apparently said one thing and the physical evidence said another so the Grand Jury – presumably racists to a man and woman (including the black ones) decided that there was no case against the police officer. That, then, should be that. They looked at the evidence and reached a verdict. That is how these things are supposed to happen.
Oh, no, of course not. No, it’s all some conspiracy by whitey against the “people of colour” (as they seem to be these days. Frankly, I have difficulty keeping up with the latest PC term).
So it is with Heather Barmore writing over at CiF. All her white friend are afraid to talk about racism.
But when it comes to discussing the systemic racism right here in this country, where are my white Facebook friends?
Perhaps, because, it doesn’t exist. Sure, there are racists, but they are a tiny minority of bigots. The rest of us just take people as we find them. This “systematic” racism – festering ever since the vile MacPherson report came up the institutional racism bollocks has been used by the guardianista to beat whitey with. Like homophobia and islamophobia these are merely weapons – weapons designed to silence critics (dislike – even intense dislike is not a phobia). The riot in the USA much like the riots here a year or so back are at the root about someone paying a heavy price for their criminal activities. The exception being that the US police routinely carry arms and ours don’t. Also, knowing this, conducting a criminal enterprise in the States means you are taking a chance with your life. This person was a violent thief and died as a direct consequence of his own actions, so I have no sympathy. Indeed, my sympathy rests entirely with the people he robbed. And all the bollocks about what a nice lad he was (yeah, yeah, they always are) just doesn’t wash. After all, the Krays loved their dear old mum and were nice boys really. A criminal thug is just that a criminal thug. Now he’s a dead criminal thug. Nice boys who don’t commit violence also don’t rob convenience stores. While I would be hesitant to suggest that losing his life was what he deserved, it was certainly an occupational hazard, so tough, frankly.
This had nothing to do with race, it had everything to do with Brown conducting a robbery and then violently assaulting the police officer who approached him. The police officer was carrying out his duty and used extreme force as is allowed under Missouri law. Some, it seems, see racism everywhere.
I hate to stir the Graun’s pot but the most racist individual I ever encountered was a black Tanzanian. He showed every sign that he had been indictrinated with “we can do anything white folks can” and it came as a real shock to him to find that HE couldn’t!
There is, however, rampant institutional racism in this country, and it’s directed against the indigenous majority. Particularly the English.
Yup: I recall the way white Americans rioted and looted after O.J. Simpson was acquitted.
Don’t you?
