Since changing over my host, I’m getting a wave of spam. Not sure why. For a long time, I was spam free. That said, none of them get through, so they are wasting their time trying.
In the meantime, WordPress doesn’t like my drop down links plugin, so I’m having to slowly rebuild my blogroll. Like I have all the time in the world…

Probably because your previous provider was filtering them through a blacklist before they came to you. Your new one may do that but probably using a different list which is less aggressive.
That was the conclusion Grandad and I reached. He’s put a system in place to help. That said, as WordPress has default moderation in place for new comments, I really don’t know why they waste their time. Even an unmonitored old site will just collect them and leave them unpublished.
