Over at the UK ID Cards Blog the ever increasing cost of a UK ID card is mentioned again. Big Blunkett plans to use stealth to bring in this scheme. Initially through passport renewals. Renew your passport and bingo, you get an ID card, too. 
However, the cost of a new passport is to be £85….that is, £85 at the moment. The cynic in me sees this rising substantially. After all, the phenomenal costs of the database have to be paid for somehow…
