As the petition against road pricing draws to a close, the government prepares its response:
Plans for pilot road pricing schemes should not be seen as an automatic step towards a national strategy, Downing Street has said.
Hmm… Don’t presume that this is any sort of U turn. This shower are more inclined to dig their heels in knowing that they are right, we are wrong and we had better get used to the idea of being persuaded.
Gwyneth Dunwoody being interviewed on the radio spouted about “having a debate” and saying what we want – as opposed, that is, from saying that it is all a sinister plot.
Actually, we are not saying that it is a sinister plot. Mass surveillance is sinister. Plotting however requires a competence that far exceeds that of this bunch of charlatans.
Gwyneth, before sounding off at your opponents and accusing them of not entering into the debate properly, you might want to consider that we may just have alternative solutions to offer to the “debate”. That we haven’t is a symptom of your administration’s tendency to put cotton wool in its ears. This petition is a means of getting your attention. Now that we have it, will you listen?
Somehow, I doubt it.
