Pregnant Women and the Medics

According to the Lancet, pregnant women should not be allowed to go against medical advice when deciding on home births.

The right of women to choose whether they have home births is being questioned by a top medical journal.

The Lancet said mothers-to-be should not be able to opt for them if they put their babies at risk – under UK law women can override medical advice.

Here we go again…

One assumes that the risks being faced are put to the individual concerned. She then makes an informed decision. This, however, is not good enough for the control freaks at the Lancet.

But doctors said it was rare for women to ignore their wishes in high-risk, complicated cases.

So there isn’t a problem, then, is there?

  1. I see. So, according to the Lancet, it’s perfectly fine to kill unborn children, but giving birth to them at home is a wicked crime and must be punished?

  2. Any woman who agrees to give birth in an NHS hospital (assuming they don’t turn her away at the door because there’s no room at the inn), unless there is a need for surgical intervention, needs a psychiatrist, not an obstetrician. Neglect and indifference are the least of the ‘caring treatments’ I have heard of.
