You put that cat in the box.
I once got my dog to pose for a photo wearing sunglasses and a German officer’s hat from World War II.
I didn’t have to. As any cat person no, if a box is left unattended for a few minutes it will fill magically with cat. It’s a law of the universe.
We had a cat that would sit on any piece of paper you put on the floor. No matter how small!
Nice box. Can Berenike jump in and out of it in one bound or does he (or she) have to put a paw down on the edge?
She hops in in one bound.
The problems arise when the box is (a) smaller and (b) deeper than the cat judged, in which case you end up with a head-down cat wildly seeking purchase with its rear legs. Priceless.
Mine has claustraphilia. The smaller the space, the better she likes it. Fortunately the boiler installers had been warned and prevented her from diving under the floorboards…
I’m celebrating, by the by. Two days ago, my geriatric lazarus was at death’s door and was all set for her dignitas moment. Twelve hours on a drip, potassium levels restored, and she has risen from her death bed with a canulated vengeance.
What is it with boxes and bags? All mine are fascinated with them (though I’m down to three at the moment – my little Siamese female is in the vet’s surgery being scanned for possible cardiomyopathy today, sadly).
Have you seen this?

PTB – it’s always nice when they bounce back. Ptolemy did for a few weeks, as did Kiya. The extra time, though brief, was precious. Julia, hope yours is okay. It was heart problems that took three of the four that died this past year.
Simon,
I hadn’t seen that one before, although one of ours did crush a box trying to get into it.
Thanks.
She’s probably going to be at the vets for another day, maybe two, while they work out her meds, but she should have some more life in her, though she won’t make very old bones. But at only seven, we’ll give her every chance, while the quality of life is good.
