Daft Twat of the Day

According to Nigel Farndale, it is feminism that is responsible for husbands not listening to sensible advice from their wives. He then goes on to regale us with a story whereby his wife instructed him about a faulty switch on the oven and that he would have to unplug it to make sure that it didn’t remain switched on by mistake.

He ignored this advice and caused a fire. What this tells me about feminism, I’m not sure. All that I can see from this rather silly and sorry tale is that Farndale is a bit of a dick. He didn’t listen to his wife –  bugger all to do with feminism and everything to do with him.

  1. The story suggests to me that feminism is an excellent idea. If his wife was in charge and he made sure that he did as he was told then this mishap would have been avoided. It takes some bizarre logic to have concluded otherwise.

  2. Agas, ceramic hobs, weak attempts at humour with a tenuous link to feminism and an obligatory reference to the latest literary fad, yes folks it’s the MSM. The picture of Terry and June is just there to let you know it’s the Torygraph rather than the Graun. There’s even a gay sub plot, strong man in uniform, ooer missus.

  3. If his missus was a feminist she’d have fixed the oven herself.

Or maybe I don’t really understand feminism ?

Feminisim schmenisism…I’m merely female and it’s what I’d have done 😉

    • Surely if she were a feminist she’d have called out an electrician, and then complained about sexism and discrimination when a man turned up to fix her cooker. 😉

Was that supposed to be funny?
    It wasn’t.

IF she knew what to do, or had had basic training, maybe.
Otherwise safer to leave it to an expert.

I was very careful when I dis-assembled and reconstructed our (second-hand) large gas-oven, for fairly obvious reasons.
Electric I’d be happer with, but their response-time, for decent cooking, is crap.

    • Well I thought what Lerxt said was hilarious and it was actually me that mentioned fixing it herself.

Now, while I do take your point about fixing electrical stuff …do tell..what basic training does anyone need to follow an instruction like “unplug it to make sure that it didn’t remain switched on by mistake ?

*That’s* what we’re taking the piss about. Well, that and “feminism”. Sorry if we confused you !
