Scottish Conservative leader Ruth Davidson has condemned the lowering of flags on public buildings as a mark of respect for the Saudi king.
Ms Davidson tweeted that it was “a steaming pile of nonsense”.
I’d have probably been less polite, but agree with the sentiment. Saudi Arabia is a vile, repressive Islamic theocracy and sponsors Wahhabism – a particularly violent, repressive and evil version of an already repressive and violent religion – across the world. They are no friends of ours and if their old scrote of a king kicks the bucket, well, that’s one less, so all in all, no bad thing.
