Another Admin Note

Okay, so following what was on the face of it, a fairly simple request, I’ve spent hours trying to fix something without actually being able to replicate the original problem. In the process, I managed to break the comments facility. I optimised the database, cleared out the crap and reinstalled the plugin. So it works.

As a side effect of clearing out the crap, my multiple drop-down menus for my blogrolls broke. The plugins are no longer available, so I suspect that is why. I managed to find a replacement, but it means that I can’t have multiple blogrolls as I did before as multiple versions of the widget don’t work. You get one and that’s your lot. Oh, well, that’s technology.

Now all I have to do is sort out the fonts.

Edited to add: I think I’ve got it pretty much working now. Links aren’t s different colour, but are underlined. I still haven’t fixed the multiple drop-down boxes, but I’ve lost interest now.

Lesson: Always backup site before making any changes

      Apologies again for ‘simple’ request

      • The issue isn’t a lack of backing up. I deactivated the plugins and reactivated them one at a time as part of the fault finding. Reinstalling from an earlier backup won’t change that as the database hasn’t changed, nor have the plugins. These plugins appear to have been dropped by the developer at some point. Why they were still working prior to deactivation is a mystery.
