Reiver

I realise that my writing isn’t of much interest here, which is why I have a dedicated website for it. However, my latest novel, Reiver is due out at the end of this month. Just sayin’.

In fifteenth century, the border between England and Scotland was a wild place with its own laws. Allegiances were to the clan rather than country.

In August 1402, Edmund Collingwood joins a Scottish raid south into England, an enterprise that takes him on an adventure leading to a clash with the powerful Percy family and rebellion against the crown.

And what of the Dowager comtesse d’Alençon, held captive at Chepstow castle? How is her destiny entwined with Edmund’s and what is the secret that she keeps? Edmund is about to find out.

Reiver is both an adventure and a romance that commences with a battle in the wild marches of Northumberland and concludes in a siege in northern France.

  1. It looks fascinating.
If you’ve seen the sci-fi film Serenity (2005), you’ll know that the one group that all dreaded was the ‘Reivers’, though their appalling bloodthirstiness was perhaps something of a Hollywood extrapolation from the originals. The film itself, following a thoroughly entertaining if quirky TV series, I thought was superb, though tastes may differ.
Anyway, good luck with the new book.

    • Yes, I remember that one and enjoyed it. My story follows a slight diversion. Reivers were often in demand as cavalrymen and that is where this one goes. Edmund and his brother Robert and cousin are mercenaries. So a bunch of medieval Geordies on tour…

  2. OK. Keep the adverts coming. I have a taste for historical novels and am always willing to try a different author.
