According to their rather odious leader, Michael Howard, the Tories are ready for power. This is the party that has regularly been driven into third or even fourth place by minority parties in recent elections.
Despite their success at a local level, they fall far short of grabbing Number 10. And, while the erstwhile Thatcherite home secretary is at the helm, I hope they never do.
