Religious Fruitcakes

During my discussion about Tony Blair and his evangelism, I expressed a degree of tolerance towards religious belief – providing that it is a strictly private matter and believers make no attempt whatsoever to proselytise to me or seek to impose their belief system via legislation.

Then you get this kind of twaddle (via Mark Wadsworth) and I start to reconsider that tolerance:

An Anglican Bishop has compared people who fail to take action to prevent global warming to the Austrian man who locked his daughter up in a cellar for 24 years, repeatedly raping her and fathering seven of her children.

Excuse me!?! Because I question the junk science and blatant hyperbole of the climate alarmists, I am of the same calibre as a serial incestuous paedophile? What the fucking fuckitty fuck?

The Bishop of Stafford, Gordon Mursell, said that by failing to face up to the truth about climate change, we were – like Josef Fritzl – denying our children a future.

Oh, it’s the truth is it? Given that climate alarmists are happy enough to lie in order to bend us to their neo-marxist will, the truth is anything but. The truth is that the Earth is coming out of an ice age (which, in the Earth’s timeline is a relatively recent event) and the climate is changing. It has changed pretty much consistently since the molten rock first solidified. There’s a discussion to be had about just how much contribution we make to this process (if any), but referring to people who question this contribution as rapists and paedophiles – because that is what this monstrous, arrogant fantasist is doing – is outrageous.

In fact you could argue that, by our refusal to face the truth about climate change, we are as guilty as he is – we are in effect locking our children and grandchildren into a world with no future and throwing away the key.

Bollocks. Frankly, that is about all this puerile diatribe is worth. Utter, utter arse dribble. It does not deserve the dignity of a reasoned response.

I don’t wish to shock people unnecessarily and I am in no way trying to imply that people who ignore climate change are child abusers – of course not.

That is exactly what you are doing. If you were not, you would have chosen a more suitable analogy.

I am simply trying to use an analogy to get people to wake up to the consequences of what we are failing to do, because if we don’t there won’t be a future for our children either.

More arse dribble.

The problem with climate change is – as I heard Prince Charles arguing very eloquently a couple of weeks ago – that it is terribly hard to get people to see the seriousness of it, because the consequences are not faced just by the person failing to take action now.

Anyone who takes Prince Charles’ comments on the matter seriously is likely to believe in pixies in the sky. Oh…

I think we have to try to find ways to get people to see the consequences of our failure to act on climate change. If we don’t face those, all I am saying is we are destroying the future of our children just as he did.

As I’ve pointed out, it is a reprehensible analogy to use – and, if you want to win people over to your point of view, likening them to rapists and paedophiles is probably not the most effective method.

Well done Gordon, you win this week’s fuckwit of the week award. Take a bow. And, no, I have no intention of changing my lifestyle to fit in with either of your deluded fantasies. And, let me make it clear to climate alarmists out there who may be about to hit the keyboard running; the more you scream and stamp your feet, the more you lie, obfuscate and distort, the more you seek to demonise those who disagree with you or have the effrontery to question your truth, the more implacable will be my resistance.

  1. Heh. You’ve probably read DK’s post about this already – I love sweariness, as long as it’s done intelligently and in a generally hilarious kind of way!

I’m a believer in the Sky Fairy myself, but please don’t ever lump me with moonbats like this.

I just hope that no-one comes along proclaiming “But…BUT…it’s for the sake of the CHIIILDRENNNN!!!!”.

Personally I prefer the word “fucknozzle” but yes, “fuckwit” also fits perfectly.

  2. I agree with Master Haddock on this – this is nothing more than scare mongering, neo-marxist, arse-fluff; the sad thing is that I can no longer say this is coming from a shockingly unexpected source – Clown like this guy and the Arch-Bish are sadly eroding Christianity of any legitimacy.

  3. Indeed we are passing from the last vestages of an ice age into an interglacial period. The Earth only has polar ice caps during an ice age and these are melting. Global warming caused by mankind generating a small portion of atmospheric CO2 is overshadowed by the natural warming process, a drop in the bucket, but a great excuse for taxes. Politicians should all hang.

  4. True enough, we’re wrecking the planet, but we’re not going to blow it up or anything.
We’re erasing entire species and hacking down some very pretty areas so that Pepsi can put a plant there.

It’s wrong and very bad, but not for the reasons the tree-huggers might imagine.

I’m sure Nature will come and bite us in the arse for it anyway. I’m just concerned about losing all the nice places nature provided us and instead having to live with ugly architecture like Reading!!!
