  1. The lens aperture was set to f22 – the smallest available. That said, if the background flowers were in focus, then the main subject would not stand out as much. I could have used a wide angle lens, which would give greater depth of field, but it would be a different picture – which, incidentally, I did during the same shoot. The poppies were a few inches apart – the sunflowers were half a field apart – that makes a big difference to available depth of field, too 😉

    Assuming of course that it is physically possible to achieve this, that would really mess with the viewer’s head!

  3. It would be physically possible with a wide angle lens close to the main bloom in the foreground. There would be some distortion, though. I was shooting at a medium telephoto range for this one, condensing perspective and reducing depth of field.
