On seeing the home secretary’s pronouncements; that we are all itching to be tagged and branded like farm animals, my reaction was similar to that of others; that this is a woman desperate to peddle an ideologically and practically bankrupt scheme despite the problems that it will bring. This is a government with totalitarian instincts that every day spews forth another raid on our liberties; all for our own safety, of course. So, will I be queueing up with all the other sheep from planet Zog that Jacqui Smith claims are exhorting her to hurry up and issue the tags? In the words of another appalling politician; Ian Paisley… Never! Never! Never! |
When I think of Jacqui Smith’s utterances, I think, “Pull the other one.”

Ian Paisley was a hypocrite – for all his ‘never, never, never’ rhectoric in the AIA he discarded his ‘principles’, however bigoted they were, when he saw fit LR so I’d avoid using him as an example. There is a split within Ulster unionism in that many people think he sold them out…
As for Ms Smith: the woman is delusional. Take no notice of her; rejoice in the little victories. I did laugh like bollocks when I heard what NO2ID had done though – great stuff.
Indeed he was – hence my qualification. The phrase, though, is apt.
Although it’s way off this topic, someone was going to have to compromise if some sort of settlement was to be reached and whoever did would be seen as a hypocrite. Much as I detest most of the players in that little episode, it was a no win for all involved. Intransigence or compromise…
Yes, I chuckled at NO2ID’s stunt. Still, she’s done nothing wrong, so she has nothing to fear… So I’m told 😉
I think she would have much to fear in the current climate.
