The Things You See

There I was, trundling west along the M20, having completed my meeting with my client in Ashford. Ahead, I saw the blue and red flashing lights of old Bill on the hard shoulder. As I drew closer, to my surprise, I saw that they  had pulled over a cyclist – complete with beetle hat and vivid lycra. There was a great deal of remonstrating going on. Perhaps they were arguing over whose fault it was.

  1. A cyclist on the M20? Bicycles, like mopeds, learner drivers, horseriders and pedestrians aren’t allowed to travel along motorways, no matter how ‘green’ a form of transport they are. I rather suspect said cyclist was actually trying for a Darwin Award.

  2. On this occasion, the police foiled his efforts. I am assuming that he made the mistake of taking the wrong exit from the roundabout and instead of using common sense and pulling into the hard shoulder and walking the bike back up the slip-road, he decided to go for the next junction.
