While out photographing the common blue, I also noted this interesting specimen. I think it’s a wasp spider.

Good God man! Stick to butterflies.
Aghh! I feel like its on me. Geddit off! Geddit off!
Wimper
Jesus Wept man, have you no soul. Butterflies, birds and pussy cats = cool, 8 legged face eating montrosoties = cut it out.
You think it may be a wasp spider?, WTF, it is a spider and is coloured like a wasp, the only worse combination known to man are a politician and a solicitor.
Sheesh.
Mummy x
Tell me it’s not “actuall size” ,LOL.
I rather liked it. The actual size is pretty big – about 1cm across, I guess. And, yes, it is a wasp spider.
I was going to say it was an orb-web spider. But it turns out they are a species of orb web.
Oh, well, 1cm isn’t so bad. Not quite as bad as the bird eating monstrosity here. 🙂
Apparently, they are sometimes found over here…
I’ve never been lucky enough to see one although they are supposed to be reasonably common around these parts (south coast). Excellent photo again. By the way all you arachnophobes will be pleased to hear that it’s perfectly harmless, unless you’re a fly of course.
Or a grasshopper.
Bunch of wimps. We have spiders over here that kill humans. Only deadly to primates by the way , cats and dogs are fine if i remember correctly. They live in the ground under trap doors made from silk and plant matter waiting for their prey.
