I’ve been away for the past few days. I took the opportunity to visit the Tamar Otter sanctuary. Here, then, are some of the images.
Firstly, the British otter:
The Asian Short Clawed Otter
And not only otters; Owls, too. This is the Bengal Eagle Owl.
And last, but not least, the Snowy Owl.
One of my cherished chidhood memories is of listening to a reading of ‘Tarka the Otter’ on the radio, it probably wouldn’t be regarded as very suitable these days but it’s an excellent story for kids interested in the natural world, even if its author was a bit weird. Beautiful photo’s.
For me it was Ring of Bright Water. Not an easy read and very upsetting when the author’s first otter is killed, but overall, a rewarding read. Otters are incredibly intelligent and if hand reared can make very good pets. Their behaviour is remarkably feline-like.
That first photo is stunning!
You take very nice pictures. Another string to your bow.
Stunning photographs Mark.
Long time, no speak. How are things with you?
Cracking photos. I particularly like the first one.
I don’t know about Tamar, but if you’ve ever going to be in Sussex, the British Wildlife Centre nr East Grinstead does regular photographic days where you can actually go in the enclosures.
I’ve managed to get shots like these:
