So Sad

The first time I heard Amy Winehouse, I liked what I heard. her bluesy voice is attractive and different. The songs themselves catchy and again, different to the insipid dross we have come to expect from pop music over the past decade or so. I suppose that the correlation between a troubled private life and her undeniable talent is not so unusual. She follows in the footsteps of artists throughout the ages who have lived troubled lives while producing outstanding artistic work. And too many have died young.

It is sad, therefore, that she seems unable to overcome her addiction and is unravelling at an alarming rate of knots. A talent wasted, it seems.
