Caller: Hello, this is Arcedia Direct. We’ve seen your CV on the Internet and have one or two roles that may be of interest to you.
Me: Uh huh. (Thinks – here we go…)
Caller: Are you still looking for work?
Me: Yes. In the rail industry.
Caller: (Puzzled) The rail industry?
Me: (Thinks – well, you looked closely at that CV, didn’t you?) Yes.
Caller: Well, we are a marketing company. We do sales and marketing. Would that be of interest to you?
Me: (Thinks – Yeah, right, door to door selling. No chance). No, thankyou…
This is the third time I’ve had this or a similar conversation with these people. I wonder if they will get the message one day?
The callers are told by their boss to phone. But I’m sure they don’t care who they’re phoning or what it’s about.
No. It is as simple as that.
I also from an agency today and I was almost so surprised I dropped the phone. Why?
a) They had read my CV in full
b) They had a job that was suitable and I had the relevant experience for.
It is unfortunately only 15-20 hours a week but beggars can’t be choosers.
I still get the ones above though and also ones that think customer support/service officer = Telesales
