Raaaaacist, Innit?

Omar Ibrahim doesn’t like it that he has been sent to gaol.

By the time you read this, I’ll be in jail. I have hurt no one, offended no one, threatened nobody, and yet I am in prison for 18 months.

Except that that isn’t quite true, is it? Ibrahim was one of those who broke away from the main protest and went on a rampage through the streets of London, so violent disorder sounds about right. Of course, his contribution might have been minor, but he could have chosen to remain with the main group and continued with the marching and speechifying. That way, he wouldn’t have been hauled before the beak.

The crown wishes my case to be seen as one of a mob of hooligans who broke off from the TUC demonstration against the cuts to charge around London, causing chaos and destruction. I saw instead a carnival of protest, full of colour, noise and rebellion which wished to highlight those that are at fault in this economic crisis.

The jury –  well, eleven of them –  didn’t agree. Actions bring consequences, and running riot causing damage –  and, yes, throwing smoke bombs –  is likely to get you arrested. This has nothing whatsoever to do with clamping down on protest or criminalising dissenters. It is about dealing with criminality, nothing less, nothing more.

It is, he asserts, a politicised campaign by the judiciary against legitimate protest –  as opposed to arresting and convicting a bunch of hooligans who ran amok during a legitimate protest. Specifically, white English politicised campaign against protest. The jury was all white, so clearly that makes a difference in Ibrahim’s perverted little mind. It’s not poor blameless Ibrahim’s fault, oh, no, it’s racism that is at fault here.

When someone goes on the rampage throwing smoke bombs and gets arrested for being a violent thug, it’s raaaacist, innit? Well, no, it isn’t racist and it isn’t about protest. People are perfectly entitled to protest and no one is stopping them. Ibrahim has been locked up because he involved himself in an affray. Break the law, and suffer the consequences –  or, to dig up an old cliché –  can’t do the time, don’t do the crime. The comments below the line seem to be taking a similar view.

Still, never mind, likely as not, he’ll be out in a few weeks.

  1. What a vile creature.

Anti-white, anti-English and he even manages to play the disability card (“No, not least because my throwing shoulder has been dislocated more than 40 times as a result of epilepsy.”)

Does it ever cross these peoples’ minds that the vast, overwhelming majority of the English public really don’t give a shit where you come from or what colour you are?

Possibly it’s just part of the lefty mindset as it does fit in nicely with their envy and spite.

Or maybe they’re simply playing the racist angle for as much money as they can squeeze from it. I’ve no doubt that there’s plenty of senior lefty politicians and activists who know full well they’re spouting shit and simply do it for the cash.

That’d spoil their entire world-view, should they ever admit that to themselves….

  3. And while I’m ranting:

I’d be willing to bet that his concern for future protests would immediately vanish were they BNP or EDL protests…

  4. @Longrider – I had been under the impression that Mr Abrahim was involved in some sort of independent activity when arrested – but the headline over his Guardian article reads-

\\… Having just been imprisoned for 18 months after being arrested at the TUC march … \\

I wonder if the Unions will now endorse such actions as an integral part of their protests?
