Something Old, Something New

Mrs L has just been offered her old job back. So, after eighteen months doing low grade admin work, she is getting back into the saddle of IT support, doing what she loves. There were times when she bitterly regretted walking out of that job to live in France. At the time, she couldn’t wait to cross the channel. Sometimes, though, you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone.

Looks as if things are going our way at last with this second chance. Having accepted an offer on the French house, the end of September will, hopefully, see the end of the nightmare that we have been living through since April 2010.

We’ll be worse off than we were when we went, but at least we will be debt free and able to live within our means both of us doing work we enjoy and are good at.

Oh, yeah, and I need to get a smaller bike for the training work…

  1. Just waiting for my SBMM (SadButMadMiss) to get a job back in IT. She’s been retraining in web stuff (design, photoshop, dreamwaver, flash) to get away from banking. I waited 7 years to get my current dream job. Hope she doesn’t take as long! 😉

  2. Great news. I know what it’s like to go back, I’m now working for a company for the third time. It’s the job is the best I’ve ever had but this time the politics have disappeared. I’m glad you’re back on your feet

  3. Excellent news. Good to hear that you are both getting back to where you want to be. It’s just such a shame that France didn’t work out for you.

    • I know… We did it all wrong and at the wrong time. Commuting seemed a good way of getting out there so that we could try to integrate and get work over there. We should have just waited until retirement time, I guess.

Still we have to put it down to experience and rebuild our lives over here.

  4. Good news. As for a smaller bike, you want to take a look at what constitutes a ‘small’ bike over here in BC. Anything under 1000cc is considered ‘small’. Have my eyes on a Honda ST1300.
