Troll Redux

I’m not sure that our troll really is a troll. Rather he is a wannabe stalker. He’s just not very good at it. Having left this place alone for nearly a year, like a dose of the clap, he is back. Not directly, mind, he is leaving comments elsewhere. So, if you get comments on your blog outing me, then it’s him. Thing is, I’ve never made any great attempt to hide who I am. Nominet will tell you readily enough. Google and LinkedIn will do the rest. Not to mention my self publishing exercise of a few years back. The veneer of pseudonymity here is a thin one indeed. In fact, there have been a couple of times when I thought about publishing in my own name, but the Longrider moniker has stuck rather so I remained with it. Although, you could just look at my “about” page for more info…

As for publishing the details of the motorcycle school I do some occasional work for –  well, their details are published openly, so what is to be gained, one can only wonder. Although, given the limited intellect on offer, it’s probably not worth wondering too much. It’s also worth repeating that the school in question knows all about DD, so if he tries to contact them directly, he will find people who not only are prepared for him, but tend to share my views –  even if they don’t necessarily express them as colourfully as I do here. And, of course, stalking and harassment could ultimately lead to arrest and conviction –  which would be interesting…

  1. Well, it’s your own fault you know. If only you’d knuckle-under and comply with the Mighty One’s ‘sanctions’, this wouldn’t keep happening… 😉

  2. I got two comments (about you, your real name, and where you work) in my mod queue from some anonymous little coward this morning. Zapped ’em. Hate that sort of thing. 😡

    • Given that he is criticising me for publishing pseudonymously, irony has definitely passed him by. Not only does he comment anonymously – or steals other peoples monikers – he does so from behind anonymous proxies. That didn’t protect him before, though, and it won’t again.

  3. LR: If you really want to nail the little sod, you’ve already proven you can track his real IP address through various ‘anonymous’ proxy IP addresses. The next step is to use the Address Resolution Protocol built into TCP/IP to get his devices unique network card address from his local IP address. From there it’s not too difficult to track his location by that unique Media Access Control address. Especially on mobile devices. Look it up. The information is all out there.

Then if he still wants to play idiots pédérastes by ‘outing’ and harassing people, you have the opportunity to turn the tables. In fact he’s probably more vulnerable than we are. More to lose. You’re also spot on about his limited intellect.

Like I’ve said before on other forums, the Internet is anything but anonymous.
