You may recall the leftist councils wanting to tax supermarkets back in the summer. I was sufficiently piqued to write to my MP and complain about this blatant attempt to steal even more money from us – yes, because it won’t be the supermarkets paying, it will be us as usual.
Anyway, we finally got a response from Penny Mordaunt, noting that any such tax will hit the low-income families (which as we know is always the soft target of the misanthropic left when indulging in larceny). Essentially, the government agrees with me and they have blocked the idea. So that is some good news. Nice when it happens, so make the most of it.
“When it happens”
The only problem is whether these councils will pay any attention to the government. Eric Pickles plan to bring back weekly bin collections never got anywhere.
