The prosecutions secured as a consequence of the entrapment activities indulged in by Mazher Mahmood are to be re-examined.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) is re-examining 25 cases in which people were convicted largely on evidence supplied by the Sun on Sunday’s reporter, Mazher Mahmood.

It follows a judge’s decision to halt the trial of Tulisa Contostavlos in July because he said there were “strong grounds for believing Mr Mahmood told me lies” and “had been manipulating the evidence.”

Now the CPS has announced it “took steps” after the collapse of that trial “to identify current and past cases involving Mr Mahmood as a prosecution witness.”

People went to prison because of this piece of shit. His claims that he used legitimate journalistic processes don’t hold up to examination. He used deceit and entrapment to lure his victims into carrying out illegal activities. Those activities wouldn’t have happened if he didn’t set them in motion. It is Mahmood who should be doing jail time – and he should serve at least one year for every year served by those he tricked. And he should also be forced to compensate his victims – enough to bankrupt the bastard. His type of “journalism” is one we don’t need. He was not a seeker after stories, he created them using trickery and deception; he is the lowest of scum. His exposure  and hopefully an end to his activities  is a good thing as was the end of that dreadful rag he worked for.

  1. Nothing further to add, except I’m 100% in agreement with you on all points.

    Although I suppose he’s about par for the course at a Murdoch-owned, Brooks-edited rag…
