The good news just keeps flowing in. Following on from the excellent news that Smokefree South West have lost their funding, the government has finally put an end to the government lobbying the government with money stolen from us.
Organisations given UK government grants will be banned from using the money to try to persuade ministers to change the law or increase spending.
The government said the new clause in grant agreements will mean funds go to good causes, not political campaigns.
Yes. Finally. But, but, but, this should never have happened in the first place. These organisations should never have been allowed to get away with such reprehensible behaviour. And, importantly, it is not the place of the government to give them our money, good causes or not. If the cause is good, then people will donate. If it is not, which is the case with all of the fake charities sucking at the taxpayer’s teat, then people will not donate and the organisations will, hopefully, cease to exist and the world becomes a better place for it.
This may well be the beginning of the end for the parasites that feed on our money. So, two small victories for the common man. This can only be a good thing, and one to raise a glass for.
You read my mind. Just wrote a piece on this myself!
