Truly, the world has gone mad. One for Julia, I suspect.
A train driver has been awarded £3,000 compensation for working with a colleague who had Nazi tattoos.
…
They said: ‘We do not doubt that the tattoo has caused him some genuine and material distress and has injured his feelings.
And they wonder why the term “snowflake” has gained so much traction (sic).
Words fail me. Really they do.
*speechless*
Does this mean I can get “compenshayshun” when I see a Red Star or a Hammer and sycle?
. . . just saying
Or one of those tee shirts with Che Guevara on it, the Muzzie star and crescent or football shirts. I get loads of absolutely genuine distress from seeing any of these. That’s nine grand they owe me so far, I’ll be back for more as soon as I can come up with some other things to be offended by.

Above is the link to the pdf of the ruling. This stage in the process was the payment for the case which was decided in January. (I cannot find a link for that).
Since the case had already been decided the court had little choice about making an award. However, the level it was set at could be disputed. If you are interested, the names of the panel are on the ruling.
I would have liked to see all of this rejected in court as it only encourages people to make vexatious claims and discredits those workers who have serious and valid complaints. Failing that, the award should be ten bob and a toffee apple.
However, I too will be looking for compo when I am next scared by the look of a member of UL staff displaying what I take to be hostile symbols of ideological allegiance.
Nice work if you can get it!
Was it just the tattoos? Had the colleague not otherwise breached actual transport operational rules? (That said, it is possible to be a nasty piece of work and a thoroughly objectionable colleague without actually breaking rules: some people have that down to a fine art.)
Staggering.
