So, will there be a by election?
A man has pleaded guilty to breaking electoral law by voting for Labour twice in the general election.
Mohammad Zain Qureshi, 21, voted twice in the same constituency of Chingford and Woodford Green, Waltham Forest, during the election in June.
He was registered twice at his home address with a minor variation of his name.
Holds breath. Dies of asphyxiation.
Wasn’t that Sein Fein and USA Democrats slogan until Blair’s Labour copied it.
What’s record for number of voters living same one bed flat? iirc Tower Hamlets had 46.
Let’s hope students are investigated too.
Anyone found voting more than once, or in two separate constituencies, should be banned from voting at all for at least 5 years.
Given the fixed term parliaments it would need to be at least double that.
Why are they picking on this guy? My understanding was that multiple voting was widespread. Were there to be widespread prosecutions, there should certainly be by elections in places where the multiple votes would have made a difference to the result. In places where the result wouldn’t have changed I’m not so sure but I would suggest that those should have them too.
The prosecution was right and proper. This person was willing to engage in fraud. Personally I’d happily see him disenfranchised for life as he has demonstrated that he is unfit to have the vote.
Ditto! In fact, disenfranchise all his personalities!
One bloke votes twice….oh nooooo…stop the world. I’m more interested in what’s happening to that tory scumbag in Thanet that cheated Farage out of his seat.
One bloke, a hundred blokes or a thousand, the principle is the same – he would impose a government on the rest of us by deception. He has shown us that he does not deserve the right to vote again.
I absolutely agree that they should throw the book at him. What is puzzling me is why this is the only case that I’ve heard about. Shortly after the election it started to emerge that multiple voting appeared to have been widespread. Is there now going to be an avalanche of cases?
Possibly. When uncovered, vigorous prosecution is the appropriate approach.
