A Response

My tracker company tell me that the tracker fitted to the Kwaka does not record journeys only current location, which is a little disappointing as I would have used that in evidence. Never mind, I can demonstrate that I was not on the D21 heading for Sable sur Sarthe on the 15th of September 2019. So, I’m politely telling them to eff off.

Dear Sirs,

Violation Notice 3651827295

I have received the above notice dated 20th September 2019, for an infringement of speed that occurred near Sable sur Sarthe on the 15th September at 15:35.

There appears to be a mistake as the motorcycle concerned has never been to France. And, at the time, I was in Scotland. I attach a copy of the hotel invoice showing that I was checking into the Alona Hotel, Motherwell near Glasgow.

Given that I did not commit the offence, being several hundred kilometres away at the time, I do not take responsibility for it and will not be paying the fine.

I trust that this is the end of the matter.

Yours faithfully etc, etc….

  1. Importnatly, don’t tell them anything about the bike – make them tell you what vehicle (make and model) they think committed the offence.

  2. Also, make sure you actually get notification from them that the offence has been cancelled as otherwise they WILL try and get you if ever do choose to take that bike to France.

      • Is it the bike or you they would pull up?

6 years ago I went through a red light camera in the fatherland in a hire car (business trip).

Got stiffed by Hertz if course for 30 quid or so admin fee but never subsequently got anything from the Gau in question.

As I probably won’t be going back, they can swivel. That said, if I ever turn up in an airport and they check my name/passport, it might show up. Certainly if I wanted to hire a car and showed my licence.

        Is France the same?

  3. If they have photographic evidence I wonder how likely it is that the bike is identical to yours? Presumably if somebody clones your number plate they would try to choose a similar looking bike.
