The Royal Society…

Now twinned with the CCP.

Dr Kendrick could be in trouble if some top scientists have their way. The Royal Society – whose motto is Nullius in verba (take nobody’s word for it) – has called for people who disseminate anti-vaxxing “misinformation” on social media to be sent to prison.

Yup, straight out of the Communist Party of China’s playbook.

Er, hang on a minute. Does Prof Mills actually cite the approach of the Chinese authorities to dealing with “misinformation” as an example of best practice? Yes she does. And in case you thought the inclusion of China alongside Singapore and South Korea might be a rare lapse of judgment, think again. Earlier in the report, Prof Mills again praises the response of the Chinese Community Party to dissidents who spread “rumours” (yes, she actually uses the favoured word of the CCP):

An important practice is to promote media literacy and empower citizens to spot and report misinformation. Governments such as Singapore and China not only engaged in legal and authoritative measures to stop misinformation, but called for social support from the community to stop rumours and battle misinformation.

I have long regarded SAGE as incompetent charlatans. I now have to rethink my opinion on the matter. They are evil.

Freedom of speech applies to everyone, no matter how daft their ideas – and in the case of this vaccine, scepticism is valid and is not an indication that someone is an anti-vaxxer. I am dubious, but have been happy enough to have vaccines in the past. My problem is with this vaccine, not vaccines in general.

My problem with SAGE is that they are unscientific, overly powerful, unaccountable and downright evil.

  1. All my respect for the Royal Society died when they started promoting climate change alarmism and calling sceptics deniers. If they had actually bothered to live up to their motto and investigated the matter themselves, instead of taking Phil Jones’ word for it, they would know that alarmism was all that it was. Giving a fellowship to Paul always wrong Erlitch was the cherry on the top.

  2. The Royal Society has, from time to time, ever since it was founded in 1660, acted as a block to sensible progress. There are always commercial and political interests putting pressure on members to support particular points of view. Calling for the arrest of dissenting voices is just a continuation of this process. Dr Kendrick is a voice or reason where others like Ehrlich are quite clearly barking and invariably wrong.

In these Lysenkoist times it seems that little changes.

  3. I was disappointed in Jonathan VanTam’s response in a recent briefing to a question which focussed on people’s fears about the vaccine. He was just dismissive, saying that the fears shouldn’t even be given air time. Any sensible person should have fears and we deserve proper explanation and reassurance about safety and not dismissal or Van Tam’s eventual condescending “I’d tell my mum to have it”.

      • Stonyground -Climate change is real & (long term) really dangerous
        Your ignorance is profound

Unfotunately the Anti-Vaxxers are KILLING PEOPLE with their lies
How else are you going to stop them?

        • Climate change is certainly real, however no one has bothered telling you that its natural and has been happening since the Earth was formed. And it will carry on going through these cycles no matter what you king Canutes try to do about it. You’re the one who’s spreading lies.

Speaking of lies, please give some credible evidence that the anti vaxxers are lying. There is plenty of proof to the contrary, not that anyone in the same mind as yourself would listen anyway. Not worth the effort.

          • Actually, Canute understood. He was making a point to the credulous courtiers. A thousand years on and his wisdom is being ignored.

Sometime during the Permian period there was a great extinction. During the Triassic, CO2 levels were significantly higher than they are today. Must have been all those reptiles whizzing about in SUVs.

  4. Seriously Greg? In what way has the climate changed in your lifetime? In mine, the winters have become milder, that is pretty much it. One of the most fundamental principles of the scientific method is that any theory must be in agreement with observations. In the case of climate science, numerous predictions have been made based on the notion that man made CO2 emissions have a significant effect on average global temperatures. In three decades not one of these predictions has been correct. In several cases the precise opposite of these predictions has occurred. Climate change alarmism has been falsified, if the people promoting it were actually scientists, rather than political activists, they would have admitted this and moved on. Your ignorance is indeed profound.

    @Greg T
Engage brain, open eyes and look around – snow hasn’t stopped, London isn’t underwater, polar bears thriving, no Mediterranean climate in UK.

What we do have is vastly more expensive electricity thanks to gullible ignorant fools like you
