This latest lock-down was supposed to be until mid February. Then there was talk of it going on until Easter. Now it’s May, apparently.
Britain won’t achieve herd immunity with the current coronavirus vaccines even if every single Briton is injected, a study claimed today as SAGE scientists warned the draconian lockdown will need to stay in place until May.
Analysis from the University of East Anglia (UEA) found that the efficacy of current vaccines, combined with the emergence of new, more infectious variants of the virus, meant keeping the R below one without lockdown restrictions could become impossible.
King Cnut was there a thousand years ago. It has been obvious to anyone with a brain and critical thinking ability – not to mention an understanding of basic biology and history that this is the case, but the cretins in government and SAGE have just realised.
So, if it is impossible as they now acknowledge, why do they want to punish us further?
The issue here is not the magical R rate, it is are the new variants more or less virulent? History and biology suggests that as time goes on, they will become less virulent, so let them do their thing. By all means let people who are vulnerable shield, but let the rest of us get on with our lives.
Yet, I wouldn’t be surprised if we are told that it will be June in a few weeks, then July and so on. We are caught in a trap with a government and its advisers who have no idea how to get out of the corner they’ve painted themselves into. Meanwhile the rest of us have to suffer, because the bastards doing this to us haven’t missed a single pay packet between them.
Public Health want us locked down forever. They want total control of our lives – what we eat, what we drink, forbidding us to smoke. These publicly funded bastards never give up. They have no interest in ordinary people struggling. When they fancy a change they retire and run an Oxbridge college on a huge salary like Dame Sally Davies. Its time these people were exposed. Lockdowns do not work.

Can I go OT to relieve the depressing stuff. I just discovered a show about motorbikes on ITV4 channel 120. It is quite entertaining so far.
Biggest problem with that (and every other programme he is in)show is Henry Cole.
I think that one part of the problem is that, in this age of amazing technology, we are used to being able to control things. Even earthquakes can be mitigated by having really strict building regulations. This thing can’t be controlled and the majority of people are unable to get their heads around that. The other part of the problem is that we are governed by control freaks who are as thick as mince. Put the two together and it is no surprise that we are screwed.

The trouble with bloody Johnson and this “Conservative” government is that they give people hope, only to snatch it away. Remember several months ago when Johnson said we’d have normality by Christmas? Yeah, right.
Labour are even worse than this government, but I believe they’d be honest about the length of the lockdown. For example, if they told us lockdown would last until autumn, we’d know where we stood and wouldn’t raise our hopes.

I was only half joking when I was telling friends 6 months ago that we’d have covid-21…
A firing squad is the only way to deal with these people. An even better way would be a ceaucescu style trial and immediate execution by the side door.
I have just travelled to France via the tunnel. 4 cars on the shuttle but the funny thing was that the only thing they wanted was the test result, all the other forms about quarantine were ignored. That said, the French are even worse when it comes to mask wearing and there is a 6pm curfew.
