Well, That’s Good

Plod is finally getting his finger out.

A second police force has asked motorists whose lives were seriously impacted by Insulate Britain to come forward.

Surrey Police are building a case against the protesters who targeted a number of junctions of the M25 and M3 on September 13, 15, 17 and 21.

It will help the Crown Prosecution Service – which the force is in consistent dialogue with – to prove the impact the activists had on people’s everyday lives.

It comes after Essex Police said they wanted to speak to people who could not attend medical appointments, planned work or missed anything significant due to the motorway chaos.

I suspect that there will be a queue. Anything that gets these eco terrorists off the roads and behind bars is a good move and the sooner the better. Lock them up and throw away the key, frankly. It won’t matter as we will all be burned to a crisp in the next few years anyway…

Temporary Detective Sergeant Steven Cassidy, who is part of the investigation team, said: ‘We are keen to be able to present the fullest evidential picture we can to the Crown Prosecution Service in order that we can reflect the seriousness of the situation and seek to prosecute the most appropriate offences.

‘Therefore, we are appealing for help from anyone who suffered a serious personal impact as a result of the disruption.

‘However, please only come forward if you have suffered serious impact.

‘You also need to be willing to provide us with a statement and then go to court to give your evidence for any trials that may follow – this could mean more than one visit to court as we may have a situation where we are running a number of trials.

‘I must reiterate that the impact needs to be serious – it cannot just be that it was inconvenient.’

He added: ‘My team is continuing to work tirelessly to collect evidence to ensure anyone breaking the law is brought to justice.

‘This has included sifting through numerous social media posts to find those heart-breaking stories of people who were seriously affected by these protests.

‘If that was you, and you have not already come forward, please do so – we would really like to hear from you.’

Go on. Do it. I also suspect that despite their big talk, these idiots will not find that prison is a nice place to be. Being a martyr to the cause won’t be much fun. It might even make them think twice about doing it again.

  1. Sounds to me as though temporary Detective Sergeant Steven Cassidy is doing all he can to put people off…maybe that’s why he isn’t a proper detective yet?

    • Actually, he has a point. What he’s after is impact. “I was a bit delayed,” isn’t the same as “I suffered harm because I couldn’t get to hospital.” Or missed out on a job interview.

  2. I find this total about turn interesting. Up until recently it has appeared that the police have been in attendance at these protests purely to protect the criminals. What exactly has occured so that they have now decided to start doing their jobs?

  3. Remembering the classic film “Soylent Green”, the Police used “Scoop Wagons”, that is large lorries with a modified digging spade to remove rioters/protestors. I suppose we could use a Road Roller although for more interesting ideas, check out the classic Games Workshop “Bloodbowl” device, the appropriately named “Deathroller”. Well, one can dream…

  4. It seems to me that the tide of public opinion hasn’t bothered our police force for decades now. My thought is that they have realised that people are actually on the very brink of taking the law into their own hands. There was a recent incident where these idiots were blocking the way of emergency vehicles and people got out of their cars and dragged them out of the way. The level of restraint that was shown at the time was surprising. It doesn’t take much imagination to think that the next time there might be some serious kickings involved. The blame then being blamed on the police for failing to do their job.
