Seriously, why?
A little under a year since Mark Zuckerberg rechristened Facebook as Meta, internal documents have revealed that his Metaverse virtual reality universe is struggling to meet its goals.
That’s according to documents that were seen by the Wall Street Journal. The company planned to hit 500,000 users of its virtual reality platform, Horizon Worlds, by the end of 2022. The number at the time of writing is less than 200,000, still well below a revised goal of 280,000 by the end of 2022.
The documents also reveal that the majority of those 200,000 users, don’t come back after entering the system once with many complaining most of the areas are bereft of other users.
They’ve also complained of avatars floating around eerily with no legs – an issue Meta says it’ll fix in the coming months.
Since the Spring of 2022, the number of users of Horizon Worlds has been declining.
Less than ten percent of the worlds in the Metaverse receive more than 50 visitors and the majority of these worlds receive zero visitors.
Clearly it isn’t just me that is underwhelmed by the idea. Why? Really, just why would you when there’s a real world out there?
Maybe it’s part of the big plan. The real world is going to Hell in a handcart, maybe we would all be happier living in a computer generated alternative reality. Maybe he has just gone off too early and the real world isn’t quite shit enough yet.
God that was dark wasn’t it? You wouldn’t think that I was an incorrigible optimist reading that.
Watch a film called Ready Player One.
Seems to be becoming more and more prescient the more I read about Meta plans
Very strange – at work there was a talk by a ‘futurist’ employed as a freelancer around how many new jobs were related to the Metaverse. I think there’s likely to be a twin element of forced conversion and simply banning people from private transport or eating meat. How feasible that is is obviously open to question but that would appear to be the goal. The WEF and those in favour of lockdown are working night and day to revert back to that. The Climate change scam is being assiduously rammed down the throats of the populace.
I am cautiously optimistic that it will turn out ok but look at Weimar Germany as a salutary lesson. What those pushing the Metaverse and ‘climate change’ don’t realise is THEY are the Nazis, not people who simply want to be left alone.
In the 2000’s I seem to recall a thing called Second Life.
Haven’t heard it mentioned for years, so was probably just a brief fad.
I imagine you go into these things in the hope that your life will be transformed only to find that it is just the same shit in a different place.
I seem to recall reading somewhere recently that not even Meta employees are enamoured of the Metaverse and are not using it. If you can’t convince your employees to use a product then maybe it’s not a good product.
“avatars floating around eerily with no legs”
Sounds like paying on the Wii
