Many US newspapers including the Washington Post have dropped the long-running Dilbert cartoon strip after its creator made racist comments.
In a video on YouTube, Scott Adams, who is white, said black Americans were part of a “hate group” and that white people should “get the hell away” from them.
Hmmm. is that what he said?
His comments were made in response to a survey in which people were asked to agree or disagree with the phrase: “It’s OK to be white.”
Which it is.
The phrase is believed to have emerged in 2017 as a trolling campaign and has since been used by white supremacists.
Blah…blah…blah…white supremacy…blah…blah…far right. Give it a rest.
According to the poll, 53% of black respondents agreed with the statement, but 26% disagreed and others were not sure.
Which suggests that the majority of black Americans are just ordinary people with ordinary views.
Mr Adams said that those that disagreed were a “hate group”.
He is probably not wrong.
“I would say, based on the current way things are going, the best advice I would give to white people is to get the hell away from black people… because there is no fixing this,” he said.
Actually, he is probably not wrong there, either. Given the racism being peddled by the likes of BLM and various media outlets and the consequently charged atmosphere, I find myself avoiding black people if I can. If you don’t interact with them, then you can’t put your foot in it. If I have to train people from ethnic minorities, I tread very carefully, which is something I wouldn’t have thought about twenty years ago.
Mr Adams, 65, later acknowledged that his career was destroyed.
It does look like it.
Plus the sudden outbursts of violence.
Meanwhile, the far-left strip Doonesbury continues to be printed in far-left rags such as the Garudian. But I suppose it’s a perfect fit. A far-left strip in a far-left rag.
So, it seems it’s not “OK to be white”. We honkies have to feel guilty simply for being honkies. And apparently, all white people are inherently racist, even if we don’t treat black people differently from the way we treat other people.
Here’s the Man himself, after his opening item

At a time when most people would want to be retiring anyway, so not exactly the greatest loss in the world, although the remaining IP value of Dilbert was probably worth a few million, now not so much.
His blog postings and responses have been increasingly unhinged, possibly signs of some underlying malaise?
Ever since deciding to branch out into Political Punditry in 2016 by claiming that Trump was going to get elected, not the Blessed Hillary, he’s been on the left’s “Cancellation Watchlist”, so maybe he’s just giving them the ammo to shoot him in the face?
Cue his reappearance on Fox News as “Unrepentant racist Scott Adams”.
I listen to his podcast most days. ISTR an episode early this year when he predicted that this would be the year he got cancelled. Looks like he may have a successful prediction.
I learnt that lesson about 40 years ago.
It is racist to call out black racists for being racist. Have I got that right?
