Goose…

Gander.

Councillors have been slammed as killjoys for criticising patriotic England fans who have painted the St George’s Cross on a roundabout.

Despite the growing Euro fever across the country, Derbyshire County Council urged people not to give other roundabouts a similar makeover as it could distract drivers.

But the hideous progress flag painted across the roads is okay and doesn’t distract drivers? If one is okay, so is the other. But the querty people get a free pass to do whatever they want, because reasons.

My position is pretty straightforward – the road markings should be limited to those required by the Highways authorities to manage traffic – no flags of any sort. So, absolutely, no rainbow bollocks along Wine Street in Bristol, for example.

  1. Ah but one piece of vandalism is officially sanctioned by your betters you see, that’s why that one is OK.

    • Worse, you can go to jail or have hefty fines laid on you if you dare to make a mark on the officially sanctioned vandalism.

  2. In Hull there is some quite decent artwork in some of the bus shelters. It appears to have been done with spray paint and stencils, I don’t know I’m not an expert on such things. The thing about this stuff is that it isn’t political. I’ve seen floral designs and a picture of Mick Ronson among others.
