Remoaner Femi.

As a leading national treasure announces that he [Stephen Fry] has taken Austrian citizenship, Femi Oluwole says it exposes a great irony – that Brexit was meant to be about freedom, yet without EU citizenship, we are trapped

Not only is this bollocks, it contradicts itself, but Femi and the headline writers at the Indy are too stupid to see it. Mr Fry has the freedom to move to Austria and has taken it. No one has stopped him, nor are they planning to try, so yes, he has all the freedom he needs. No one is trapped.

Bye. Don’t let the door hit you on the arse on the way out.

  1. I once remember reading a dictionary definition of the word idiot. A person of such mental deficiency as to be incapable of rational thought. A man who has been trapped on the UK because of Brexit has left and moved to Austria? Yes this guy is the dictionary definition of an idiot.

Is this some kind of strange extention of project fear? Non of the dire predictions put out by the remainers actually came true but, in their minds they are still real. Hence the belief that moving to a different country is impossible because project fear predicted that it would be. This belief being maintained even when describing someone who just did.

  2. We are trapped.
We should Ask the North Koreans how it feels to have all the lovely freedom to leave… Oh.

Meanwhile, anyone who really wants to leave can get out quite easily.

  3. I read earlier in some fearmongering post somewhere that the EU are going to start enforcing cross-channel hindrance to meet some post-Brexit regulation or another. Steven had better get a move on if the van carrying his kit isn’t to be held up . . .
One “reason” behind it was quoted as “increased security”. Is that the increased security the globalist Liebour party is overseeing on the Channel?

  4. Or does he know what is in the next budget and this is an excersie in getting out of paying excessive taxes????
I worked with someone who had retired to Portugal, he and his partner could have become Portuguese citerzens. This would have stopped their pensions being double taxed. They chose to come back to UK because to gain Portugal citerzens they had to learn to speak Portuguese. I personally think if you chose to live in another country it’s only polite to learn their language and culture so I couldn’t see what they were complaining about.

  5. Does UK have extradition treaty with Austria?
Maybe the BBC cesspit created by all those nice public schoolboys is about to explode.

  6. For me Brexit was about being able to conserve fish stocks.
Sandeel fishing has been banned and hopefully will enable puffin and other seabird numbers to increase.

  7. You’ll be pleased to know that on Lundy island, North Devon, the puffins have increased from 13 in 2000 to 1335 in 2023. This is partially tackling a rat problem but also must mean increased food sources.

  8. I believe Austria offers citizenship to anyone who’s parents or grandparents were victims of the holocaust so expect that was the channel Fry used.

Of course Britains rejection of a European superstate in the 1940s is what has made that possible in a round about way I suppose.

On a more serious note, I suspect changing attitudes in Britain towards persons of Fry ethnicity may have more of a bearing on his decision than Brexit.

  9. Not just that, but Fry’s grandparents came from Austria in the 1930’s (before Anschluss) to train British farmers in the fenlands of Norfolk how to grow sugarbeet and extract the necessary sugar from it rather than having to import everything from hotter (Colonial?) climes. They then stayed on as farmers of sugarbeet although Fry’s father developed into an electronics inventor / innovator.

Fry also speaks pretty fluent German already.
