Personal Trainers on the NHS

The new white paper on public health is to include a proposal on personal health trainers according to the Telegraph. The idea follows the BBC theme used in their programme Fat Nation.

GPs will be able to refer patients to trainers for a variety of lifestyle issues such as diet, exercise and sex.

Okay, so what’s the big deal? HMG doesn’t want to be perceived as developing a nanny state, yet wants to encourage a health service that does just that – provide a health service.

The problem of course is nanny state is exactly what it is.
