A woman is to be compensated by her local council for an Asbo taken out against her:
A woman given an Anti-social Behaviour order (Asbo) based on false allegations made against her is to be compensated by the council that issued it.
Manchester City Council will pay the woman £2,000 for what the Local Government Ombudsman called an “abuse of power of nightmarish proportions”.
Well, when a system of “summary justice” that bypasses the rule of law and the burden of proof is instigated by a morally bankrupt government intent upon removing our liberty, just what do you expect? Asbos are iniquitous. You don’t need to be guilty of a crime to receive one and if you are deemed to have breached the damn thing, you can be gaoled for up to five years without having committed a criminal offence in the first instance. That’s justice for you; brought to you by New Labour; tough on justice and tough on the causes of justice.
