…read Charlie Brooker on CiF. Takes some beating. Not only is Brooker desperately unfunny – about as funny as dysentery, frankly, he takes cheap pot shots at the Daily Mail readership while ignoring the glass house he currently occupies.
Contrary to the rather silly research being referenced, you will find stupid people everywhere on the political spectrum. Still, I guess a study that shows right wing people as being stupid reinforces Brooker’s overwhelming sense of smug superiority.
We can presume, I suppose, that Brooker hasn’t bothered to notice that his style of politics has been tried multiple times and has failed multiple times. His head would explode if he did…

How on earth did this study weigh for the almost immutable fact that people get more ‘conservative’ or ‘right wing’ as they get older and have families? I was fairly rampantly left-wing in my 20’s; free Tibet, living in a squat, marching and railing at authority etc. And then I gre up… It’s yet more lefty circle-jerking masquerading as science…
I quite agree about Brooker. I used to find him funny (Screenwipe was at times genius) but that recent odd fantasy about a Conservative PM in his 40’s with boyish features fucking a pig on live TV just left me cold. Not funny, not clever, not reading his stuff any more…

Define “right-wing” or “Conservative”.
Are we talking about the “right-wing” Alan Duncan who wants everything legalised and lots of markets, or the “right-wing” Anne Widdecombe who wants a theocracy in the UK, or the “far right” BNP who are really just old labour with a large dose of nationalism (and only a bit more racism)? Do we mean the Conservative Bruce Anderson who is anti-gay marriage, or Frank Zappa who declared himself a conservative.
Most people just use the term “right wing” in the same way that teenagers call people fascists.
I suspect it is probably defined as “doesn’t agree with me.” 😉
The intelligence the study talks about it not the IQ intelligence, but something like emotional intelligence. A typical lefty thing. You have a high EQ if you want to care for the poor by giving to charity. Doing the same thing by giving the poor a job shows you have a low EQ because you will be exploiting the poor person.
The Daily Mail article says the academics talk about innate intelligence. Looking at wiki, it says that it’s a chiropractic theory. In others total mumbo-jumbo fake science. So the study just confirms lefty attitudes are superior which the lefties will just lap up because they think it proves they are right in a typical lefty way.
You have to be clever to think Socialism is still a good idea after a century of catastrophe and 100 million dead.
