Via the Quiet Man commenting over at OoL, I see that now we are starting, finally, to get some decent summer weather, the moaners are out in force.
The unprecedented wet weather followed by the current heatwave has sparked a growth boom in the countryside, causing pollen counts to soar.
Given that we have endured the wettest drought in history, it is good to finally see the eye of heaven in all its glory, to finally have a few days of summer as it should be. Sweltering during the day and balmy in the evening. For most of the year it is wet, cold and miserable on these northern islands, so I enjoy the brief respite when it comes. Indeed, it was partly for the climate that I moved to the south of France. Coming back to the British climate did not sit well with me. And having to listen to people moaning about how hot it is, is a damned sight more irritating than a spot of hay fever. I can take the anti-histamines for the latter…
Awful weather, this superhot stuff [22 degrees]. Sweating profusely and gazing towards a post-Olympic autumn.
22 degrees is mildly warm. When it’s into the thirties, it’s just getting comfortable.
Enjoy it while it lasts, acres of milky white flesh gradually becoming rather more healthy looking… I’m having fun for once.
