  1. Pretty much classic example of “something must be done” mentality. I find this interesting though in the light of the recent claims about cats mass murdering small things, I don’t say there’s a direct connection but a narrative seems to be developing. Pets are a problem, they must be controlled and just as with people the way to do it is through an ID card. How long before someone seriously suggests a limit to the amount of cats or dogs anyone is allowed to own ? I give it about five years, after that microchipping will be compulsory for cats too and no one will be able to own more than two, reducing to one after a few more years. Of course that may have to wait until the more important tasks of banning tobacco and severely limiting access to alcohol, sugar and fat are completed.

    • If you are a social housing tenant in some areas, there already is a limit (numbers or size) on the animals you are allowed to own…
