Plans to ban the pint glass from pubs throughout the Highlands of Scotland have sparked outrage.
These evil monsters just don’t stop, do they? This is why we should never give an inch. Appeasement is seen as a concession, as an invitation to take the next inevitable step. The modern puritan is determined to make every lifestyle decision for you – to manage and regulate the minutia of your everyday existence, from what you eat and drink (and I would say smoke, but they don’t want you to do that at all) – and how much, to every risk assessment you make. They are interfering busybodies who would be unemployable outside the public sector or the NGOs because they do nothing that is useful. They are scum. Evil scum.

Another idiotic idea by people who are unable to think. It reminds me of a ‘great’ idea by my local police many years ago. A local cricket club has successfully run a beer festival for about 40 years now and there has never been any real trouble, despite the event selling out for the past 20 years. Everyone attending is given a pint mug to use for the two days of the event and then keep (it saves on a lot of washing up). The event had gone on for many years without problems until the police told us we had to give everyone leaving a plastic bag and make sure the mug was put in that, for ‘safety reasons’ they said.
Before a great number of our visitors would slip their belt through the mug handle and carry it home that way and there was never much in the way of litter and broken glass in the area, although we always check and clean up. However, the year when everyone leaving had a bag with them there were far more accidents and mess to clean up. Semi-drunk and drunk people are not great at carrying things but do manage to walk with things attached to their belts. Luckily for us the police learned after one year.

This sort of thing makes me bloody mad, if kid’s are fat it ‘s down to their ruddy parents, why should take-away shops be penalized, these are people’s livelihoods, they pay their taxes and rates. What’ll happen, they’ll go out of business, have to claim benefits and the council loses the revenue, total madness.
I think the shopkeepers of Salford should get together and take this stupid, vindictive and nasty council to court.
As for banning glasses…don’t get me started…grrrrrrrr. 😈
