Really?

We are taking legal advice to resolve the situation as soon as possible – there is no quick legal solution but we are also working with the travellers to ensure they leave as soon as possible.

There is a quick solution, alright. It’s just that it isn’t legal. Meanwhile the scrotes continue to disrupt people trying to go about their business. And travellers wonder why we despise them. Rocket science, it ain’t.

  1. Somehow I don’t think the CRS would bugger about if Paddy/Roma tinkers blocked of anything in Paris, let alone a hospital…

  2. Actually, there is a quicker solution which is, as far as I know, legal (or at least not as badly illegal as the one I think you are alluding to, LR …). If you can’t get ’em out, gently inform them that you’ll lock ’em in.

    Let them know – as friendly as you like – that you are upping the security and that big lockable gates, or large padlocks, accompanied by CCTV and/or security personnel will be being installed in the next couple of days. All, of course, because “There’s been a lot of break-ins and damage round here lately, and, well, we can’t be too careful these days. Of course, we know it’s nothing to do with you guys, but there’s a lot of crooks around, y’know? I just thought I ought to let you chaps know before you found yourselves stuck in here” You can even stress that they are welcome to stay for as long as they like, and you’ll be pleased to send one of your people round to unlock the gates whenever they want, but they need to be aware that he lives about an hour’s drive away …

    It’s amazing how these people can move off as quickly as they moved in when their comings and goings (and thus their main means of making cash) is likely to be denied to them. Chances are, you’ll never need to fit either those big gates or padlocks at all …

  3. You’ve got it all wrong! They are a special and important culture which needs to be preserved at all costs! Their contribution to our society, through programmes like ‘My big fat gypsy wedding’ lead to a cultural enrichment of our youth which is only surpassed by that provided by the likes of extremist Islam! They choose to wander the earth, improving the lives of those whose drives need tarmacing, keeping the verges by major A roads short by grazing their horses there and ensuring that wealth is distributed fairly through the liquidation of metal assets from wealthy institutions like churches…

    Just kidding. A small team of Stormtroopers and a boat are all that is required to solve that particular problem…

    • I hear they’re doing a sequel to ‘My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding’ called ‘My Big Fat Gypsy Tarmac-Layer’.

      It’s going to be aimed at pensioners;

      is pay-per-view only

      will cost them their life savings;

      and only run for 20 minutes before finishing unexpectedly halfway through. 😡

  4. Trespass is a civil offence, but causing criminal damage is not.
    I wouladthunk that a quick charge of the latter (damaging the tarmac, uprooting valuable grass, etc, would do the trick.
    Alternative, just plant loudspeakers (away from the hospital) that start up @ about 01.30hrs, playing classical music REALLY LOUD – Wagner or Tchiakh or somebody …..

  5. Reminds me of a tale concerning travellers illegally occupying some land earmarked for building. The site owner looked at this, decided he didn’t like it and got his excavator out. Over the next couple of days he dug a 2-metre deep ditch almost all the way around the travellers’ camp, leaving a 3-metre gap.

    Then he quietly walked in, and told ’em they had an hour to pack up and get out, after which time he would complete the ditch.

    They did try to argue, but out they went after he fired up the digger and got ready to move in.
