The government’s chief legal adviser has apologised for any offence caused when he said corruption was “endemic” in some ethnic minority communities.
This was entirely predictable, of course. Even Grieve should have seen it coming. Frankly, if you are going to cave in and apologise to the grievance mongers, offence seekers and race baiters then don’t make the comment in the first place. If you are going to make a controversial comment – that happens to be accurate – then have a little backbone and be prepared to weather the inevitable shit-storm and stick to your position come what may. Never apologise to these people, it only encourages them and shows you up to be a coward.
The flag has been raised – Grieve knew he’d have to grovel … but people will be watching Tower Hamlets very closely, I suspect
