Allez Vous En

I have mixed views on this story.

Saudi Arabian King Salman left the south of France for Morocco on Sunday, cutting short a planned three-week stay after a petition from some 150,000 residents over the closure of a public beach outside his villa.

The first time this came to my notice, they  were saying that the beach was part of his property –  still can’t quite make out whether it is or not. If so, “my gaff, my rules” applies. Or at least, it should.

However, the French, being French have done what they do so well – stuck two fingers up at the ruling  classes. This vile old man – a figurehead of the oppressive, primitive, brutal and thoroughly execrable Wahabbi Islamist cult, has had his medieval prudery rejected. That, then, is a good thing. A more robust reaction to the cult over here would be no bad thing, either.

And, no, despite Western leaders licking the arses of Saudi Royalty, they are not our friends.

  1. The French do not have the benefit of our Anglo Saxon culture when telling people to go away.

    • No they don’t: “Allez-vous en” doesn’t have quite the same ring.

Thy do however, have a nice tradition of dealing with the ‘rulers’, helped by that nice Dr. Guillotin.
