Other People’s Money

It’s nice to spend other people’s money. At least this is what socialists believe and Jeremy Corbyn is now showing his true colours – if he hasn’t already.

Funding for the arts is “central” to Jeremy Corbyn’s bid to make Britain “happier”, the Labour leadership frontrunner has announced.

Well it won’t make me happier. Indeed,  it will make me extremely annoyed – having my money stolen to pay for others’ pleasures. Let them pay for their own pleasures. I don’t seek funding for my personal interests and hobbies.

He claimed that the arts have witnessed £82million of cuts over the past five years, while many arts organisations and venues have closed down.

If enough people want them and are prepared to pay, they will stay open. If not, they close. That’s life. Get over it. There should  be no government (i.e. you and I) funding of the arts. The arts should pay for itself.

I would also add that it is not the place of government to make me happy. It is the place of government to get the fuck out of my life, stop interfering, stop bossing, nagging, bullying and stealing from me. Fuck off already.

    I couldn’t put it better.

And any party that stood on that as its manifesto would get my vote. Doubt I’ll ever get the opportunity tho 🙁

    Exactly. Thank you.

  4. The government has a place: It is to create stability and security such that people are able to be happy.

  5. woodsy42 – you have got your knickers in a twist.

“government” is an “incorporeal” concept. It has no material existence but exists as an intangible idea by reason of its annexation of material-humankind’s created thoughts to live and get on together, or not.

Humans have created government in an effort to live together in harmony or chaos. The harmony or chaos being dependent on the intent of the created thought. In other words humans created many ideas, including the idea of government. So how can an idea create anything?

To say government has a place to create something to enable happiness of the people is like saying that crime has a place to create something to enable dishonesty of the people.

  6. Jeremy Corbin is worth a bob or two so he can donate my share of what he thinks we ordinary mortals should pay in taxes to ensure his socialist luvvies such as Emma Thompson, Russell Brand, Benny Bandersnatch, et al, (all millionaires) continue to increase their wealth by spouting some other person’s words. If they want more money for the arts, then why don’t they all donate a percentage of their ‘earnings’ (why do socialists want all that money anyway?) and leave the rest of us alone?
