The fake Sheikh is charged.
Undercover reporter Mazher Mahmood, known as the “fake sheikh”, has been charged with conspiring to pervert the course of justice over the collapsed trial of singer Tulisa Contostavlos.
Not before time. What this man has done to countless people amounts to entrapment. A good long term at her Majesty’s will, hopefully allow him time to reflect on his crimes.
That this hasn’t happened before is a cause of grave injustice. Flogging disreputable rags is not and never has been a justification for his disgraceful activities. As for the public interest defence, don’t make me laugh. This creature, like the editors he worked for, cannot differentiate between public interest and interesting to the public.
Former News of the World reporter Mr Mahmood, who often posed as a sheikh during his investigations, claims to have helped put more than 100 criminals behind bars during his 25-year career.
Those convictions are unsafe.
“I deny the offence. I will vigorously contest it at court. In the meantime I have nothing further to say.”
It’s funny, isn’t it, that these vile people are happy to splurge others across the front pages of the scummy red tops they work for, yet are remarkably reticent when it bites them back. What a vile, despicable piece of shit this man is.
Yup: couldn’t happen to a more deserving creature.
