Except…

He isn’t.

Every pound raised by The Independent’s Give to GOSH appeal will be matched by an equal gift from the Treasury under a “double your money” pledge made by George Osborne.

So, The hospital is an NHS hospital, paid for by the taxpayer – i.e. us. It raises extra funds through fundraising activities, so again, it is funded by us. Gideon is now promising to double that with taxpayers’ money.  So, er, that’s us again.

Remember, the state has no money, so any generosity on its part is with other people’s money. Ours.

The Treasury pledge will be funded from fines paid by banks caught up in the Libor rate-rigging scandal.

Nice sleight of hand. Where do the banks get their money? Oh, yeah, us.

  1. The only voice we ever get given by these parasites is the sodding invoice. Bollocks to the lot of ’em.
