Did You Know

That this past week was the World Week for the Abolition of Meat? Nah,  me neither. The article is the usual risible apocalypse-mongering we have come to expect from the extreme veggie front for the abolition of humanity.

Man evolved from apes, precisely because he adapted his diet. Our teeth give an indication of our intended diet – those incisors are for tearing at meat, the molars for grinding fibrous material. We are omnivores.

I’m perfectly relaxed about people choosing to be vegetarian or vegan due to their conscience. Indeed, I can applaud their willingness to go where that conscience leads them. What pisses me off, though, is the politicking, the lecturing and hectoring at the rest of us who choose not to. You do your thing and leave others to do theirs.

Nuff said. A crank.

  1. “Man evolved from apes, precisely because he adapted his diet.”

Indeed he did. It is also said among archaeologists that Neandertals lost out to modern man because they were herbivores. They had large guts and peg like teeth used for plant material and needed a large volume of food. They did not travel very well because of this. At the same time modern man existed on a diet of meat and bone marrow, and was able to move on when the climate became hostile. So I’m told.

  2. There seems to be an inexhaustible supply of people who are incapable of living their own lives and leaving everyone else alone to live theirs. I’m a vegetarian but I don’t go around hassling other people to become vegetarian as well. Also, if circumstances changed and I was forced to return to eating meat to survive, I would.
