A man with joint British and Australian citizenship could spend a year in jail in Dubai after posting a link on his Facebook page to a US charity raising funds for blankets and socks for refugee children in Afghanistan.
Scott Richards, an economic development adviser from Adelaide, was arrested on 28 July and held for 22 days at Al Muraqqabat police station before being charged on Friday under a new law banning “fundraising without permission”.
Islam is not the same as common law. Everything is forbidden unless permitted by the state. Every so often, we hear stories of westerners who seem to forget just how capricious, ignorant, incompetent and evil is Sharia law. And still they go out to these primitive medieval countries and seek their fortune there. And this is what happens. They forget that they are not living in a civilised country; instead they are living in a vile Islamic theocracy. And this is the price they must pay.
It really is very simple. Don’t go there. Islam – and specifically Sharia law – is incompatible with modern western civilisation. So don’t go there and you won’t fall foul of it. That way you don’t end up rotting in some gaol for something that in the civilised world isn’t a crime.
Radha Stirling from the group Detained in Dubai told the Australian broadcaster ABC: “There are constantly expats falling foul of the law [in the United Arab Emirates] and also being victims of other people because it’s so easy in the UAE for an individual to take out a police complaint against someone.
“There are so many laws, it’s so different, yet so many expats, but UAE doesn’t make any effort to inform expats.
Sigh… It being their country, they are under no obligation to inform expats. It is the responsibility of the expat to inform themselves of the local laws.

Well the Countries of Continental Europe have that at least in common with Islam – Roman Code, nothing is legal unless the State says so.
And Common Law is incompatible with Roman Code. One of the more important reasons for Brexit.
